Course Description

This course is designed to meet the training requirements set by the NC Department of Transportation to recertify Oversize-Overweight load escort vehicle drivers. Course components consist of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, updates, and an exam.

Learner Outcomes

 Upon completion of this course, students will:

  • Refresh their knowledge about  the importance of safety of people involved in the movement of the over dimensional load, as well as the traveling public.
  • Learn about defensive driving and avoiding damage to load and roadway.
  • Learn about escort driving requirements and any current changes/updates.
  • Learn and understand how to minimize delays to load being transported.
  • Be prepared to sit for the NC Vehicle Escort Operators Certification Exam for certification renewal.

Notes

  • Students must have a current Escort Vehicle Operator (EVO) license and present it at the time of registration.
  • Students must not have a DWI or reckless driving within the previous 12 months.
  • Bring these to the first class meeting: Current NC Driver's License, current EVO license/certification, and a certified copy of driving record.
