Course Description

This course is designed to provide the necessary skills to meet the instructional requirements to current licensed cosmetologists who are interested in becoming licensed cosmetic arts instructors. Theory topics include practical demonstrations, lesson planning, lecture techniques, development and administration of assessment tools, record keeping, and other related topics. Practical topics include practical demonstrations, supervision, and advanced student assessment. This is a parallel course to the curriculum COS-273 and COS-274 courses and is completed in a curriculum environment. Successful graduates of the Cosmetology Instructor Level I and Level II courses will be eligible to apply and sit for the NC State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners written and practical licensure exams for Cosmetology Instructors.

Learner Outcomes

Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Complete practical demonstrations.
  • Demonstrate lesson planning and lecture techniques.
  • Develop and administer assessment tools, record keeping and other related topics.
  • Demonstrate supervision techniques, assess student performance in a classroom setting and keep accurate records.
  • Complete practical demonstrations.
  • Demonstrate supervision and advanced student assessment.
  • Demonstrate competence in the areas covered by the Instructor Licensing Examination and meet program completion requirements.
     

Notes

  • To be eligible for this course, students must have successfully completed Cosmetology Instructor Training I.
  • Deferred payment is not available for this course.
  • Students will participate in an online blended asynchronous portion of the course.
  • Students will be required to be in uniform and prepared for class each day with textbooks and kit.
  • Verification of Identification is required.
  • Program Site: Harnett Main Campus
  • This is part two of a two-part series of courses to be eligible to be able to graduate from the Cosmetic Instructor Training program.
