COS-3206C1 - Cosmetology Instructor Training I
Course Description
This course is designed to provide the necessary skills to meet the instructional requirements to current licensed cosmetologists who are interested in becoming licensed cosmetic arts instructors. Theory topics include orientation, theories of education, unit planning, daily lesson planning, laboratory management, student assessment, record keeping, and other related topics. Practical topics include demonstration of services, supervision, and entry-level student assessment. This is a parallel course to the curriculum COS-271 and COS-272 courses and is completed in a curriculum environment. Successful graduates of the Cosmetology Instructor Level I and Level II courses will be eligible to apply and sit for the NC State Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners written and practical licensure exams for Cosmetology Instructors.Learner Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and discuss theories of education.
- Discuss unit planning, laboratory management, student assessment and record keeping.
- Develop lesson plans and demonstrate supervisory techniques.
- Assess student performance in a classroom setting.
- Demonstrate salon services.
- Demonstrate supervisory techniques.
- Objectively assess the entry-level student.
Notes
- To be eligible for this course, students must attend an orientation session and provide a copy of a current NC Cosmetology license.
- Deferred payment is available for this course, including payment for tuition and textbooks.
- Students will participate in an online blended asynchronous portion of the course.
- Students will be required to be in uniform and prepared for class each day with textbooks and kit.
- Verification of Identification is required.
