CSP-MOTR1 - Basic Rider Course
Course Description
This course is designed for students who want to learn to ride a motorcycle and for re-entry riders who have not ridden in a long time. BRC students will ride motorcycles provided by the college. Successful BRC graduates receive an exemption from the NC DMV riding exam when applying for a motorcycle license.Learner Outcomes
Upon completion, students will:
- Have an understanding of the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling.
- Be knowledgeable of the skills that lead to licensing and motorcycle operation on streets and highways.
- Learn in a safe, positive learning environment.

Manuals
Training manuals are provided to each student. In addition, an eCourse link will be provided to you within 5 days of the start of class for the online portion of the class.
Attendance Policy
Students must attend 100% of the scheduled classes to successfully complete the course.
Requirements
Students must provide the following: long sleeve shirt or jacket, long pants, sturdy over the ankle boots or shoes, full-fingered gloves, protective eyewear (glasses or face shield), DOT approved helmet and head covering.
Those with health concerns and limited mobility should consult a physician prior to registering for this course due to the demanding physical activity required.
Inclement Weather
Dress for inclement weather. Generally, instruction will only be cancelled in the event of campus wide inclement weather.
Evaluation Method
Students will be evaluated by written and practical riding exams. Students unable to safely perform the riding activities required, may at the discretion of the Rider Coaches, be asked to withdraw from the course.
Refund Policy
To receive a full-refund, cancellation must be made 2 full days in advance. Students are free to withdraw from the course at any time they feel uncomfortable riding, however registration fees are nonrefundable.
