Course Description

The Electronic Notary (eNotary) Public course provides instruction for existing N.C. Notary Publics to become commissioned to perform electronic notarial acts. Class content includes applicable laws, ethics and misconduct, electronic notarization processes, best practices and recommendations and more. Successful completers may obtain a N.C. Electronic Notary Commission Seal and Signature.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the process of becoming an eNotary, how to get started and how to maintain the eNotary commissions.
  • Be familiar with the Notary Public Act and changes to the notary Act in 2006-House Bill 1432.
  • Identify the necessary elements of an Electronic Notarization such as electronic documents, acknowledgements, eNotary seals and more.
  • Perform an Electronic Notarization, understand the difference between paper-based vs. electronic notarizations.
  • Describe electronic notarization solutions, networks, attaching the eSeal and eSignature.
  • Understand the security standards, ethics and consequences of misconduct.
  • Know how to maintain the eNotary journal.

Requirements

  • Students must possess a valid Notary Public commission.

  • A valid State or Federal issued photo I.D. is required the day of class.
