Course Description

Shielded Metal Arc (Stick) Welding is significantly used for steel structure construction and industrial fabrication, and is widely favored for general maintenance and repair. Students will learn material prep, equipment setup and safe practices, joint types, arc maneuvers/techniques, and identifying welding defects, etc. Students will learn to confidently produce quality welds using stick techniques.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will:

  • Understand the methods and general procedures within a welding shop.
  • Safely produce quality welds using stick techniques.

Notes

Required materials (not included in course fees): Steel-toed boots, welding helmet, safety glasses, gloves and flame retardant safety jacket.
