OSH-3012F1 - Forklift Fundamentals
Course Description
This course teaches students to operate both a stand-up and sit-down forklift in a safe, efficient manner. Students will participate in machine maintenance, warehouse picking, travel, placing and loading simulations. An Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour General Industry module is included where students will learn various safety and health requirements, and receive an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Outreach DOL course completion card upon successful completion. Additionally, this course is offered in conjunction with an employment readiness bootcamp where students will learn economic literacy, resume prep and interview skills, and the soft skills essential for on-the-job interactions.
Learner Outcomes
Upon completion of this class, students will:
- Understand potential hazards (lift trucks and workplace).
- Safely operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
- Be aware of warehouse technician role and expectations.
- Have a practical knowledge and application of OSHA safety.
Notes
Requirements
- Students must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.
- Steel-toed boots are required.
- An additional OSHA card fee is required.
Evaluation Method
Students will be evaluated on attendance and class participation:
- Full forklift training attendance (100%) is required as part of the Building Bridges Program.
- Full OSHA training attendance (100%) is required to qualify for the OSHA credential.
Prerequisites
Unemployed students must also register for Job Ready Bootcamp Forklift.
