Course Description

This class prepares auto technicians and service personnel as NC On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) inspectors for assessing motor vehicles. Course topics include regulations and test inspection procedures required by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Enforcement Section for OBD emission inspectors. Students must be able to read and write in English and possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will:

  • Be prepared to perform OBD inspections on motor vehicles.
  • Understand the rules, regulations and procedures related to OBD emission inspections.
  • Have completed the necessary CEUs to maintain or earn an OBD vehicle inspection certification.

Prerequisites

A prerequisite for this course is Vehicle Safety Inspection, DMV-3129V1.
