Course Description

This Gas Metal Arc Welding course teaches the basic operations in the use of short arc and spray welding. In addition to welding fundamentals and safe practices, the course covers basic equipment setup and operations (e.g. power sources, shielding gases, etc.). Students will learn to complete T-joint and lap joint welds with single and multiple passes. This course is ideal for beginning welders or persons needing to make basic maintenance repairs.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion, students will:

  • Understand welding safety and operation fundamentals.
  • Understand short arc and spray welding.
  • Safely complete T-joint and lap joint welds.

Notes

Required materials (not included in course fees): Closed-toe shoes, welding helmet, gloves, flame retardant jacket, and safety glasses.

Electronic heart devices (e.g. defibrillators, pacemakers) are not allowed in an area where arc welding is taking place. Students with any electronic heart device must notify the instructor.
