Course Description

This course allows students who speak Spanish fluently to continue working towards a certificate in Cosmetology. Instruction will focus on fundamental and more comprehensive theoretical concepts of cosmetology with hands-on experience.  Students will work towards meeting graduation requirements to become eligible to take the NC State Board of Cosmetic Examiners Cosmetology written and practical licensing exams.

Learner Outcomes

Upon the completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Explain comprehensive safety procedures.
  • Discuss product knowledge.
  • Explain chemistry as it relates to cosmetology.
  • Explain the steps of a manicure.
  • Define chemical restructuring.
  • Explain hair coloring.
  • Demonstrate basic skin care.
  • Demonstrate manicuring and nail application.
  • Demonstrate scalp treatments, shampooing and rinsing.
  • Demonstrate hair color application.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive haircutting, design, pressing and wig procedures.
  • Demonstrate chemical restructuring services.
  • Safely and competently demonstrate salon services.
     

Notes

  • An orientation session is required for this course, in addition to placement testing for new students.
  • Deferred payment is not available for this course.
  • The Cosmetology II course is a seated, 16-week course.
  • Students will be required to be in uniform and prepared for class each day with textbooks and kit.
  • Verification of Identification is required.
  • Program Site: Harnett Main Campus
  • This is part two of a five-part series of courses to be eligible to be able to graduate from the Cosmetic Arts program.
     

Prerequisites

To be eligible for this course, students must have successfully completed Cosmetology in Spanish I.
